Take a deep breath of fresh air, let the wind blow in your face…… autumn has arrived. Storm, rain, wind you will get it all, but also nice sunny days. Nature is like a painters palette,a range of colours. Inside the houses the stove and fire places are heated up again. Everybody gets prepared for the winter.
At the end of September the first mountain tops will get white from the snow and the nights are getting colder. In October the first signs of Northern lights will reveal. This spectacular lightshow of colours during clear, dark, freezing nights will be available free of charge until Spring. It will not be there every night, so don’t stay at the Vestaralen for just one night but at least for a few. If Northern light is there just go out for a long night walk and enjoy this beautiful show of colours and figures.
Another thing we are sure of every year is the arrival of the Killer whale. Every Autumn hundreds of them follow the enormous shoals of herring that migrates into Vestfjorden and Tysfjord. From October until the end of January it is possible to greet these beautiful animals on a Killer whale safari. For the persons among you who are not afraid it is also possible to go in the water and swim side by side with the Killer whale. Seeing 20 or 30 Killer whales in one day is no exception, but reality. Sometimes a group of Killer whales will swim into the fjord in front of our house, but there is no guarantee.
