At the end of November the sun will disappear until the end of January. The so called “Morketid” has arrived. On the Vesteralen there will be daylight (but no sun) from 09.00 until 15.00 hours. The “Morketid” is a very pleasant and sociable time. For example: No where in the world is Christmas so important for the people and being celebrated as exuberant as in Norway and the Christmas in the north of Norway is always white. Skiing is possible also during the dark hours. Local skiing slopes are being lightened. There is one down hill skiing slope near our place, but if you make a two hour drive you will be in one of the greatest skiing area’s in Norway.
Another very spectacular event for the whole family is a trip with a dogsled. It is possible close to our place, just 10 minutes away. Feel the power of the sled dogs and enjoy nature in a totally different way. When Winter changes to Spring it is an excellent time for cross country skiing. The Vesteralen is the place to be for this kind of sport but it isn’t as exploited as it could have been. The feeling you will get when you finally reach the top and see the breathtaking view is indescribable.
On the Vesteralen you can experience four marvellous seasons.
